Yo Yo's to make you melt!

I saw this photo over at ashleyannphotography and my heart melted. Not only is Ashley's daughter cute as can be, the dress she's wearing is soooo sweet.

I think it's the yo-yo's that are around the neckline that finish this pinifore off. You could use a clover yo-yo maker and make these yo-yo's in a second.

Yo-Yo's & Folk Dance

While visiting this store the other day I saw this delightful lamp shade. The shade is from Ikea but yo-yo's have been added around the bottom edge using the Clover Yo-Yo maker.

The yo-yo's are easily made using the Clover yo-yo maker. It takes no time at all to whip up a number of yo-yo's and it easy for kids to use.

You can view a video here where Pat Sloan will give you a detailed instruction on how easy they are to use. Clover products are distributed in Australia through Ascot Lane

I'm not sure that the lamp shade is still available at Ikea but I was excited to see this new range of fabric that is being released by Clothworks. The main print reminds me of the lampshade.

Folk Dance is designed by Christine Graf. There are two colourways with the main print - white background and a black background.

And there are some fun funky co-ordinates.

This range wont be arriving in Australian stores until November.

New Bag

After the last few weekends being so hectic getting ready for my Open Day, I decided to relax a bit this weekend. Yesterday I thought I would whip up a quick and easy bag. I had some gorgeous fabric by In The Beginning Fabrics from the floragraphix range for the outside of the bag and I chose a fabric from the Cho-Cho range for the lining (dist. in Australia through Lloyd Curzon Textiles).

I used this free tutorial from U-Handblog (page down until you find "Basket Style Handbag" and then click on the name to get the instructions). I love the handles I have used for this bag. They are by Clover and are just sooooo yummy. I've been wanting to use them in a project for ages.

Yes it does get cold here in Queensland. We were at a friends place last night for a bar-b-que and they had their fire going. Well....it can't be that cold really....as we all sat outside on their deck to eat dinner!

Dsc04239 And finally, I just popped a yo-yo on the front for a bit of eye candy. I used the Clover yo-yo maker as it makes the job so quick and easy. Joan of Lazy Girl Designs has an excellent free tutorial on how to use the yo-yo makers. Joan also has written about the NEW Clover Yo-Yo makers that will be arriving in Australia shortly. They are great....heaps of fun. (Clover is distributed in Australia through Ascot Lane).

The bag was quick and easy to make. I'd finished it in an hour and It will probably take me less time in the future, now that I know what I'm doing.  Hope your weekend was as relaxing as mine was!

New Clover Magnet Pin Caddy

Above is video footage that I took at Quilt Market in Houston last year. The Clover Magnet Pin Caddy is a new product that has a magnet underneath that lines your pins up in the one direction. There is a bit of background noise ....so you may need to turn the volume up a bit to hear. The pin caddy will be arriving in Australia in February so they should be in the shops by the end of that month or early March. I really like the fact that it has a lid and that all of the pins face across the product. Because there is a small hollow underneath, you are able to pick up the pins easily. It also comes in 3 groovy colours: purple, green & pink. They are distributed through Ascot Lane .
