I have been wanting to check out the Sydney Flower Market for ages and a couple of weeks ago I finally got the chance. It was everything I thought it would be ...and more. I was in heaven! We were limited for time so I was manic mode and I have to thank my partner who followed me around as I raced like a mad woman from one end to the other, checking out prices and quality and trying to quickly decide on what to buy.
I only managed to snap a few pics as time was short but I was thrilled with what I found and it worked perfectly for the occassion.
My tips
- Get there early! Although the markets are open til 11, you really need to get to the flower markets well before 8am.
- Be flexible in what you are looking for - have a colour scheme and work with that rather than trying to find a particular flower.
- If you live a distance from the markets - take some buckets of water in the car to keep your flowers as fresh as possible on the drive home.
- The markets advertise that parking is free but that's only after 9.30! As you will need to get to the flower markets much earlier, you will need to pay $8 parking, so factor that in to your budget.
- Do a quick run through first as prices vary between the vendors.
- Take a coat - we were there on an unusually cool autumn morning and it was much colder there than we expected.
- Take cash!
Have a great weekend.....Di
