The first time I heard about the designer Laurel Burch, was when I overheard a conversation in a quilt shop where women were talking about her fabulous cat designs and how different they were to anything else on the market. Being the curious soul I am, I sought out the fabric and was fascinated by her bright colours and her quirky designs. When you see them you can't help but smile. Although Laurel sadly passed away a while ago, her designs are still being produced by Clothworks and I'm excited to say that her cats are back! In a range called Fabulous Felines, Laurel's famous cat fabric will be back in the stores early 2013.
There is also a great panel and stripe which are the focal designs in the range:
I also love the fact that Clothworks also carry a "Laurel Burch Basic" range and they are always adding to this collection. This time we have a great collection of dots and hearts. These are just great bright basics that will go back with any number of ranges.
As with all of Laurel's ranges, they have metallic gold highlights on them which make them pop. Not only do Laurel's fabrics look great in a quilt, they make awesome bags and cushions for those of you who love a bit of playfulness and zing in your life.
Clothworks is distributed throughout Australia by Lloyd Curzon Textiles.
