Hobart, Tasmania

There is so much to show you of my week in Tasmania. Hobart was lovely and we were lucky that the cricket was on and most of Hobart's accommodation was booked out, which meant that we stayed at a lovely private hotel in Battery Point. The area is divine - full of so many historic homes that are still in tact and beautifully restored. It's a lovely area to visit and spend a few hours walking around the streets.

 

I loved the gardens that many of the houses had. They were full of roses and lavender that spilled over fences and onto footpaths with abundance:

 

 

 

 

And how is this for a hotel room view??

 

So if you are ever in Hobart, don't forget to spend a couple of hours in Battery Point and take a walk around this delightful suburb that is full of history.

A Real Christmas Tree!

I'm having a break from Tuesday Trackdown for a couple of weeks, to enjoy the festive season.

Growing up in North Queensland, I always dreamed of having a real Christmas Tree. As a child we did have a live tree but it was a Sheoak Tree which looked something like this and had little spikey seeds like this which were great to paint white or silver and hang on the tree as decorations. As good as that was....I still dreamt of a tree like this - a real pine tree that was non existant in North Queensland.

This year my little dream came true - well sort off. My partner lives in Sydney and while I was spending a week with him, we went and bought a real tree! Yep - one that you cut down from the Christmas Tree Farm, throw in the back of the car and spend the rest of the Christmas season with the sweet scent of pine wafting through the house.

Time to cut it down and take it home.

 

See all of those ribbons around the trees??? Well they are there because serious tree buyers, reserve their trees in November! As we are amateurs in the "real tree buying" game, we were a bit lucky as this tree was reserved but the owner had changed their mind.

I love this tree! I love how it's not perfect, I love it's smell, I love how excited we all got bringing the tree home and decorating it (Note: need more ornaments next year).

 

 

It's beginning to feel like Christmas!

Wynyard, Tasmania

Wynard is a small coastal town located in the heart of North West Tasmania. It has beautiful riverside gardens that are right in town and stretch along the Inglis River. I was only in this town for a couple of hours but I enjoyed the scenic views that catch your eye as soon as you arrive:

The Stillwater Restaurant

I've spent the last week travelling around Tasmania. What a beautiful part of Australia. I've been toTassie before but it was when I was in High School so I can only remember snippets and it rained nearly the whole time so there wasn't much to see apart from mist and clouds. This time the weather was beautiful (although a tad cold at times for this Queenslander). I'll post more photos over the coming days but today I want to show you a beautiful restaurant that we went to for breakfast - The Stillwater Restaurant in Launceston. Stillwater is situated in the historic Richie's Mill and is a one of the best dining experiences in Launceston. The food was delicious and the ambiance is beautiful.
