After the last few weekends being so hectic getting ready for my Open Day, I decided to relax a bit this weekend. Yesterday I thought I would whip up a quick and easy bag. I had some gorgeous fabric by In The Beginning Fabrics from the floragraphix range for the outside of the bag and I chose a fabric from the Cho-Cho range for the lining (dist. in Australia through Lloyd Curzon Textiles).
I used this free tutorial from U-Handblog (page down until you find "Basket Style Handbag" and then click on the name to get the instructions). I love the handles I have used for this bag. They are by Clover and are just sooooo yummy. I've been wanting to use them in a project for ages.
Yes it does get cold here in Queensland. We were at a friends place last night for a bar-b-que and they had their fire going. Well....it can't be that cold really....as we all sat outside on their deck to eat dinner!
And finally, I just popped a yo-yo on the front for a bit of eye candy. I used the Clover yo-yo maker as it makes the job so quick and easy. Joan of Lazy Girl Designs has an excellent free tutorial on how to use the yo-yo makers. Joan also has written about the NEW Clover Yo-Yo makers that will be arriving in Australia shortly. They are great....heaps of fun. (Clover is distributed in Australia through Ascot Lane).
The bag was quick and easy to make. I'd finished it in an hour and It will probably take me less time in the future, now that I know what I'm doing. Hope your weekend was as relaxing as mine was!

Hi Di,
That yo-yo is the perfect accent for your new bag.
I love it!
